Summary: It’s certainly better than any alternative Red can come up with, and if, at the end of the story, the mad man in the blue box that Clara mentions should happen to turn up in the forest, Red thinks she wouldn’t hesitate to follow Clara into that box, to escape into an adventure of a whole different kind.

That short summary does not do this story justice. It’s beyond adorable. It’s basically Henry being an ass to Regina and Ruby notices and tries to help, and she kind of does and then it goes from there. I was only mentioning a few days ago that I wanted a fic where Red wolfs out to protect Regina and voilà!

Spoilers: None specific, but up to all canon. I imagine this in a perfect AU for Warehouse (HG is revived, joins the warehouse,) and set at a time period where both River and the Doctor know why she’s in Stormcage but you could read it without that knowledge, I think.
Summary: River picks up H.G. to prove the Doctor wrong, and mayhem ensues. River and H.G. get stranded in the TARDIS and must repair it as The Doctor tries to help from Warehouse 13.Snippet:
“River?!”
“We’re in a temporal storm,” River yells back. It’s a guess, but her authority is what Helena needs right now. “The only thing to do is wait it out.”
“And I thought the Warehouse was the most fun one could have!” she yells. She grins, her hair has long since come out of its perfectly put-together bun. River grins back.
“I am glad to have you back, Helena!”
“And the Doctor?”
River shakes her head. “I’m sure he’s making new friends. Or enemies. We’ll get him as soon as we can. Hold on!”
River clasps Helena’s hand in her own and holds on as they continue to shake and shift. She’s only been in one other temporal storm, but it wasn’t pretty. Helena smirks. “Are you sure you didn’t just want me alone?” she yells out over the noise.
“Please Helena, you know me. Since when am I subtle?”
“You consider this subtle?” Helena waves her free hand around to highlight the absolute chaos of the TARDIS. As she does they finally stop with a hard jerk, and the lights go out.
“Stay here,” River tells Helena as she helps the other woman to her feet in the darkness. River knows the way to the door even in complete blackness. She opens the door slowly, carefully, makes sure she isn’t about to kill them by blasting them out into space or a hostile culture. When she opens the door, there’s only sand for miles around them.
Helena leans against the door and stares out at the sand. She doesn’t look even slightly fazed.
River says, “Let’s get to repairing, shall we?”
Why you should read this: Doctor/River. River/Helena. Helena/Myka. SHIP ALL THE SHIPS! Fantastic plot, writing, snap dialogue, perfect characters, everything. Basically, it’s flawless. GO READ IT NOW!

I’m only on the first chapter of this fic but this snippet makes me want to continue reading it because it’s golden.
“You want to get caught up in a media frenzy about the crazy lady who kidnapped the kid of two leading politicians, one of whom may well soon be running for president?” He raises his eyebrows like the devious little bastard he is.
“You wouldn’t.”
“Please,” he scoffs. “Who am I being raised by? I totally would.”
“Are you sure you’re only ten?”
“You grow up fast in politics.”
I mean seriously. It’s basically what Henry said in canon but it has more of a funny twist to it because he’s ten and he’s already blackmailing someone because he’s a politicians kid. I love au’s, I mean Henry is reading Obama’s book instead of a book of fairy tales and when asked where he got it (because his parents are Republicans) he says it was his sisters (who is Mary-Margaret) and she got it to piss off her mother. How perfect. Also the icing on the cake, Emma and Regina slept together before Emma knew who Regina was (a ruthless Republican politician) and then Henry comes to find her and she’s like ‘oh shit’. I’m laughing so much.
